Kristin Woods - Head Girls Lacrosse Coach
Coach Woods is looking forward to her 14th season at the helm of New Canaan High School with the Girls Varsity Lacrosse Program. Her overall coaching record is 223 - 61 including the 2018, 2016, 2015, 2013, 2012 & 2010 Connecticut State Championships. At the end of the 2018 season, Lacrosse Magazine ranked New Canaan High School Girls Lacrosse #15 in the country. The Connecticut High School Coaches Association honored her as the Outstanding Coach of the Year in 2018. During her tenure, 25 players have earned All-American honors. An additional 13 players have earned Academic All-American honors. She has also coached 77 All-State and 103 All-FCIAC players. She was honored as the 2008, 2012, 2018 Connecticut Coach of the Year, as well as the 2009 & 2012 FCIAC Coach of the Year.
She has been affiliated with women’s lacrosse at every level, both as a player and coach, for the two past decade. As a player at Penn State, she was a four-year letter winner and captain of the team during her senior year, ultimately being named to the Academic All-Big Ten team as a midfielder. Following her collegiate playing days, she was asked to stay on at Penn State for an additional year as the Undergraduate Assistant Coach, helping to lead the Nittany Lions to an 10th place ranking in the country. She has coached at the Penn State Elite Camp for nine years, as well as owning and operating Gold Coast Lacrosse Club Team.
Madison Hughes - Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach
Madison Hughes played for the Central Connecticut Blue Devils where she was named to the NEC all conference three years in a row. Also as a senior Madison was the award winner for the Nicholas E Collenluori Award at the Hofstra Headstrong tournament. Madison was a four-year starter for the Blue Devils as a midfield/defender.
After graduating Madison went on to become a certified personal trainer. She currently is a trainer for Countdown Fitness in New Canaan and Greenwich, CT. Madison first started as a coach for the Nor’ Easter club lacrosse team during her senior season at Central Connecticut University until the following winter (2015-2016). Madison became part of the New Canaan Girls Lacrosse program as a high school varsity and youth coach in the spring of 2017, and she joined the Gold Coast Lacrosse staff in the fall of 2017.
Emma Sheeran - Junior Varsity Head Coach
Coach Sheeran grew up with her parents, four siblings and three dogs in Westchester, NY. She was a 4-year varsity lacrosse player for John Jay High School and went on to play at Fairfield University. This is her 5th year as a coach for the New Canaan Girls Lacrosse program. Coach Sheeran is currently a Social Studies teacher at Bedford Middle School in Westport.
Amy White - Freshman Head Coach
Coach White is a recent graduate of Fairfield University where she studied Finance and was pre-med. She also played Lacrosse and was involved with numerous school clubs, activities and organizations. She loves being active and has found a remarkable comradery in being a part of a team which is why she has come back to coach. She is currently taking a gap year to study for and apply to Medical school so she is coaching and being an EMT during her off hours as a treat.
